Reference to Video — Create with an Image Reference
Use an image reference to guide your video’s composition and style. Choose the movement, duration and resolution, then create with Seedance 2.5.
An idea is all it takes to start.
Write a prompt, choose your settings and review the credit estimate before generating.

How do I use a character reference in Seedance?
Choose one saved image as the reference and describe the new shot. Reusing the same reference gives each generation the same visual starting information; check face, costume and proportions across clips before editing them together.
- Use a clear reference with one main character and an easily readable face and outfit.
- Keep the character description stable while changing only the action, setting or camera needed for the next shot.
- Review all clips together. Select matching takes and use editing to join them; consistency is not guaranteed by a reference alone.

How is reference mode different from image mode?+
Image mode treats the image as the first frame. Reference mode supplies one image to guide the subject or appearance of a new shot, with a selected aspect ratio. It does not lock the opening frame.
Can I upload several characters or a motion video?+
The current studio supports one image reference per request. Multiple images, reference videos and reference audio are not supported in this workflow.
Will every shot have exactly the same character?+
A reference can guide appearance, but each clip is generated separately. Compare facial features, costume, proportions and motion between clips and keep only the takes that fit your sequence.
