How do I animate an image with Seedance?
Upload one JPG, PNG or WebP image and describe how it should move. Image mode uses that image as the first frame and matches its aspect ratio. Focus the prompt on action, camera movement and details that should stay consistent.
- Choose a clear image with room around the subject. The upload must be no larger than 10 MB; each side must be 300–6000 pixels.
- Describe one movement and its direction. Use a fixed camera when you want the subject’s movement to stand out.
- Compare the result with your original image, especially the silhouette, hands, face, labels and background.
Before you generate
Does the photo become the first frame?+
Yes. Image mode sends your uploaded image as the starting frame and uses adaptive aspect ratio. The model generates the subsequent motion, so small details can still change.
Can I provide both a first and a last frame?+
This studio currently accepts one image per request. It does not offer a first-and-last-frame pair. Choose an image that establishes the shot and describe the intended ending in the prompt.
Should I describe everything already in the image?+
Use the image to establish the subject and composition. Put most of the prompt into what moves, how the camera behaves and which details matter. Inspect the generated result before using it.
